This exhibition will feature a graphic novel that performs as artisitc investigation as well as an arts based research project. Yanke and Catal Yst explores the imagined journey of a young refugee child from his war-torn home to his arrival at a host country. What might Yanke’s experiences be? Is his life better now he is in a different country? How do others treat him?
The exhibition will feature original drawings from the graphic novel, plus written provocations about young learners, refugees, and additional arts based research pieces. The project examines how the arts, and particularly drawing can act as a social commentary, as a political device and as a theorising space to consider the critical issues of our times.
